According to a local legend the statue of Infant Jesus at Colva, was a miraculous statue. which was washed
off the shores of Mozambique coast in 17th Century , by some shipwrecked sailors by Fr. Bento Ferreira. The priest was later posted to Colva, where he dedicated a special altar for the statue. The church was opened for veneration of the statue, during the annual FAMA. And thousand of people irrespective of religion and faith gathered at the veneration. Which brought about harmony and peace to the state.
