The three storied structure is designed by Goa’ s famous architect Dean D’ Cruz.
‘ Museum of Goa' is an unique art space, created in order to make people aware about the contemporary art. The 1, 500sqmtr museum will display artwork ,sculptures, drawings, paintings, installations, videos and documentaries by famous artists. The museum will also hold workshops, residencies, lectures, talks and art courses.
The idea behind creating this museum is
Art is something I love the most. Its a way through which I find peace for myself. Many people till today are not aware about contemporary art. There is an urgent need to break cultural barriers and take contemporary arts to the common people, ideally in their own language. And that' s exactly my motive behind cre ating the ‘Museum of Goa’ ( MOG).
Why the name MOG (Museum of Goa)
In Konkani, the word MOG means Love. Love is one of the strongest emotion that can unite people together. And through art we can spread love to every person.
What makes MOG different from the rest museums ?
MOG will embrace a universal perspective and provide a platform to Indian contemporary artists to showcase their work and will also connect them with local and international milieus. And this will also put Goa on the international art map. So that many foreign tourists can come to Goa and enjoy the art. Another interesting aspect about the museum is that we are trying to make a technological equipment through which people can keep their smart phones next to the art work displayed in the museum. After which they will be able to hear a recorded voice narrating the information about the artwork.
